This year so far, newly trained Moose volunteers have been placed in one day centre and several care homes across Edinburgh. They are putting to use the things they learned during their training and enjoying meeting new people.
Both Balmwell and Craigour care homes were closed at the end of March 2011 and all their residents moved to the brand new Inch View care home. Balmwell and Craigour residents were very clear that the Moose in the Hoose project should continue in the new care home and Moose volunteers were able to continue to visit during all the upheaval. Things are now settling down and some residents are enjoying being able to pick up their emails once more.
In March 2011 the Tower care home came on board as the latest Moose unit and a lively group of residents are looking forward to finding out what the computer can do for them. One resident in her late 90’s said she never thought at her age she would have an email and is looking forward to contacting her grandsons.
