Since the City of Edinburgh Council opened its latest care home in April 2013, Moose volunteers have become regular visitors on a Tuesday morning. As well as helping residents to surf the Internet and send emails they also facilitate up to five Skype calls to relatives in a two hour slot.
This is no mean feat as the Skype calls span the globe and involve numerous time zones. Sometimes relatives have to get up extra early to catch up on the news and occasionally even grandchildren and pets can be included. Despite the spilt second timing involved, everyone agrees there is nothing better than seeing a family member face to face, even if they often have better weather!
